Atleast 17 people have been killed in northern part of Vietnam due to lightning, floods and whirlwinds, and severe storms. Government officials have said that atleast six people are missing and around 64 have been injured due to these violent storms so far.
Vietnam's Floods and Storms Control Department on Monday, June 26, said on its website that 12 of the victims were killed by lightning. The rest died from falling trees, collapsed houses or were washed away by floods in six Northern provinces before and after Tropical Storm Haima hit the region last week.
More than 2,600 homes were destroyed or damaged, and 57,000 acres (23,000 hectares) of rice paddy were inundated.
