Ronald Reagan 10 foot Statue unveiled in London


Today on the ocassion of American Independence Day, July 4, a statue of the late U.S. President Ronald Reagan was unveiled by  left, former U.S. ambassador Robert Tuttle, Chairman of the Board for the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation Fred Ryan, former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Britain's Foreign Secretary William Hague and current U.S. ambassador Louis B. Susman outside the U.S. embassy in London.

The 10 foot bronze was unveiled Monday to mark the centenary of Reagan's birth.

Ronald Reagan was hailed as "a great American hero".

This year marks the 100th anniversary of Reagan's birth on Feb. 6, 1911, in Tampico, Illinois. He was the 40th President of the United States (1981–1989), the 33rd Governor of California (1967–1975) and prior to that, a radio, film and television actor.

Jetlite Plane Emergency Landing in Mumbai

Brealing News of the moment comes from Mumbai where a Bangalore-bound Jetlite aircraft made an emergency landing in afternoon.

Jetlite Flight S2-112 took off at 11.22 a.m. from Mumbai Airpirt but was forced to return  back an hour later due to a suspected engine snag.

A full emergency was declared at the airport at 12.33 p.m. and the flight landed safely a few minutes later, an airline official said .

“All the 173 passengers aboard are safe, they have been taken care of and put on alternate flights to Bangalore,” the official said.

The grounded aircraft is now being inspected by technicians.

33 TDP Legislators from Telangana Submit Resignations


On Monday, July 4, all 33 legislators of Andhra Pradesh’s main opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) from the Telangana region submitted their resignations to press their demand for a separate state.

TDP leader T. Devender Goud told news reporters outside the assembly that all members of his party from Telangana have submitted resignations to Deputy Speaker Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka as Speaker N. Manohar is in the US.

Three of the TDP legislators faxed their resignations from the US. Four rebel members of the party had sent their resignations Sunday from their hunger strike camp in Hyderabad.

Five legislators of the Congress have submitted their resignations to the deputy speaker since Monday morning while about 25 others, including a dozen ministers, were on their way to assembly to quit.

The Congress legislators left for the assembly after a meeting at Panchayat Raj Minister K. Jana Reddy’s residence.

The legislators said the resignations were aimed at pressurising the centre to carve out separate Telangana state as promised by it Dec 9, 2009.

Telangana accounts for 119 legislators in the 294-member assembly. The Congress has 52 members, including two of Praja Rajyam Party (PRP), which recently joined with the ruling party.

TDP has 37 members from the region while Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) has 11.

Google Realtime Goes Missing - http://www.google.com/realtime

Today Google Realtime is the buzzword amongst internet users. Today Google Google Realtime has gone missing.

If you try to open http://www.google.com/realtime you will get a message that reads "The direct URL to real-time search is currently a 404."

As seen in photo below, the “Realtime” option is no longer in the Google search left sidebar.

All these changes seem to be occuring after Google launched its Google+ Project few days ago, and started rolling out user interface changes to many of their products, including search.

Google is removing features that weren’t used often or are being replaced with other functionality.

After doing bit of research on internet, we found that Google spokesperson Gabriel Stricker shared this statement to a website :

We’ve temporarily disabled google.com/realtime. We’re exploring how to incorporate our recently launched Google+ project into this functionality going forward, so stay tuned.

Yingluck Shinawatra to becomes First Female Prime Minister of Thailand


Yingluck Shinawatra will become the first female prime minister of Thailand. She defeated incumbent Abhisit Vejjajiva in the general elections.

Yingluck Shinawatra is the sister of  Thailand's former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra who is currently in exile in Dubai due to a conviction for abuse of power.

With 80 percent of the votes in, results suggest Yingluck's Pheu Thai party will gain 251 seats, giving it a majority in parliament.

Speaking from Dubai, Thaksin Shinawatra praised the Thai people for turning out to vote in large numbers and gave his vision of a new government.

He said, "Let's start the new government with the new approach with the new attitude that we want to invite everyone to set the difference for what we can work together, for what we can do together for the country and for the people, so just forget the past."

Russian Plane Vladivostok Avia Airbus A320 Collides with Vulture; Makes Emergency Landing

Breaking News of the moment comes from Russia, where an Airbus A-320 plane had to make an emergency landing at an airport in Russia’s Siberia region after flying into a flock of birds.

The incident happened when Vladivostok Avia Airbus A320 carrying 150 passengers on board collided with a  vulture on Sunday. The aircraft had taken off from the  Novosibirsk Tolmachyovo Airport and was hit by the bird 2 minutes after taking off and had to land back at the same airport.

The plane was on its way to Krasnodar in southern Russia.

No one was hurt in the incident.

The crew took the decision to return after the collision with the birds caused increased vibration.

Tropical Storm Arlene in Mexico kills 16

Breaking News of the moment comes from Mexico, where at least 16 people have been confirmed dead so far in Mexico after Tropical Storm Arlene which resulted in heavy rains in most parts of the country and left hundreds of thousands homeless.

Atleast 20,000 people have been affected by this Tropical Storm Arlene in the country, Officials said.

The storm has created havoc in the states of Tamaulipas, Veracruz, Hidalgo, Puebla and San Luis Potosi.

Landslides have also occured in many parts of the country.

Chlorine Gas Leak in China - 125 Fall ill - Sichuan Province News

Breaking News of the moment comes from China's southwest Sichuan province where atleast 125 people fell ill on Sunday, July 3 due to chlorine gas leak from a chemical plant which got damaged in a mudslide.

Around 60 victims were still in hospital in Nanxin town, said officials from the provincial health department.

Heavy rains on Saturday has wreaked havoc in southern and southwestern China.

 In Maoxian county, eight people went missing after a mudslide that also damaged three factories and dozens of houses Sunday.

The mudslides also damaged several highways in Wenchuan county, holding up around 7,000 motor vehicles, traffic police said.

Several areas in Sichuan have recorded around 100 mm of rainfall.

The continuous rains have caused cave-ins, and change of river courses in Wenchuan county, officials said.

Sun TV Senior Executive Hans Raj Saxena Arrested in Cheating Case

A senior executive of Sun TV,  Hans Raj Saxena  was arrested in Chennai by the Central Crime Branch wing of Chennai Police in a cheating case.

Mr. Saxena was arrested at Chennai airport after he arived from Hyderabad by an evening Air India flight.

He was taken to Adyar police station for questioning and was later taken to the magistrate who remanded him to custody.

Mr Saxena was arrested after a complaint was filed by filmmaker T.S. Selvaraj alleging that Saxena cheated him of Rs.9 million on payment of money for distribution of the movie 'Theeradha vilayattu Pillai'.

The flagship channel of the Chennai-based Sun Network, Sun TV is owned by Kalanithi Maran, brother of DMK leader and union Textiles Minister Dayanidhi Maran.

Padmanabhaswamy Temple of Thiruvananthapuram Could become Richest Temple in India


Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala could well become the richest temple in the country after Indian officials have found a hidden treasure worth billions of dollars in a temple in southern India.

The diamonds, emeralds, and gold and silver coins and figurines were found in underground vaults in the Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple, which was the royal chapel of the former rulers of Travancore, in southern Kerala state. This treasures is valued close to Rs 1 lakh crore. 

The temple came to highlight after a golden idol of Mahavishnu and a golden ‘anki' weighing close to 30 kilograms were unearthed from one of the six vaults at the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple on Saturday.

The inventory of the temple here, maintained by the erstwhile royal family of Travancore, is being made by a seven-member Supreme Court-appointed panel.

The stock-taking process was ordered by the Supreme Court following a petition by advocate T.P. Sundararajan over mismanagement of the temple affairs.

The foundation of the present entrance gateway was laid in 1566 and the temple has a 100-foot, seven-tier tower besides a corridor with 365 and one-quarter sculptured granite stone pillars with elaborate carvings.

As of now, the Balaji temple in Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh is believed to be the richest temple in the country, followed by Shirdi Sai Baba shrine in Maharashtra.

Tamil Nadu State Budget for 2011 - 2012 on August 4

On 4th August 2011, the Tamil Nadu government will present the state budget for financial year 2011-2012.

Speaker D Jayakumar has convened the session of the State Assembly to meet on August 4 for presentation of the budget, Assembly Secretary A M P Jamalaudeen said in a release on Sunday.

Earlier, the interim state budget for the year was presented on 5th Feb 2011 by the previous DMK Government, ahead of the Assembly polls which were held in the state on 13th April 2011.

Cargo Ship M.V. Wisdom sails out of Juhu Beach

Finally, yesterday, July 2, after an hour-long operation finally cargo ship MV Wisdom was sailed away from Juhu beach.

Nearly a month after it had run aground after breaking away from a tow ship that was lugging it to Gujarat's ship breaking yard on June 12.

Around 80 maritime personnel and three tugs removed the 9,000 tonne-heavy ship from the beach at 1.11 pm on Saturday

Juhu residents and policemen stationed at the beach heaved a sigh of relief to see the ship on its way out, as lakhs of visitors thronged the beach daily to get a glimpse of the ship, causing traffic jams on Juhu Tara road, and leaving a trail of litter on the beach.

Mount Soputan Volcano in Central Indonesia Erupts

On Sunday morning, a volcano in central Indonesia has erupted in clouds of smoke and searing gas that shot up nearly 20,000 feet (six kilometres) into the air.

Mount Soputan, located on Sulawesi Island, exploded early on Sunday.

The nearest villages are well outside the danger zone and there are no immediate evacuation plans.

Indonesia, the world’s largest archipelago, is located on the so-called Pacific “Ring of Fire,” an arc of volcanoes and fault lines encircling the Pacific Basin.

Soputan lies around 1,350 miles (2,160 kilometres) northeast of capital Jakarta. It last erupted in 2008, causing no casualties.

Major Fire at Rajghat Power Station in Delhi


Breaking News of the moment comes from Delhi where a major fire broke out at Rajghat Power Station, due to short circuit in one of its transformers.

As per media reports, twenty five fire tenders have reached the spot and are battling the fire. Luckily no causalities have been reported so far.

Rajghat Power Station is located at NCT Delhi. The power plant is one of the coal based power plants of Indraprastha Power Generation Co. Ltd.( IPGCL).

Due to this fure, many areas of Delhi are experiencing power outage.

GoDaddy Sold for $2.25 Billion to Group of Private Investment Firms

GoDaddy, the world’s largest domain registrar, has been sold to a group of private investment firms for $2.25 billion, the company announced late Friday.

GoDaddy has been acquired by private-equity firms KKR & Co., Silver Lake Partners, and Technology Crossover Ventures.

Earlier last week there were reports in media that this acquisation is on cards.

Company founder and CEO Bob Parsons predicted further growth of GoDaddy under its new ownership. He said to the Los Angeles Times, “What these guys see is a company with a lot more potential internationally and more potential to make partnerships and acquisitions. They’ll help us finance and they’ll help us recruit talent.”

GoDaddy, known for its sexy Super Bowl ads and controversial CEO with a penchant for elephant killing, has seen significant growth over the past three years, with sales rising by 25% to $947 million from 2009 to 2010. The company projected growth for 2011 to continue that trend, quoting a figure of $1.1 billion for the year.

The deal will help GoDaddy, the world's largest registrar of domain names, expand overseas and look for buyout targets, Parsons told the Journal.

134th Annual Jagannath Rath Yatra Begins in Puri and Gujarat


Today, July 3, the 134th Annual Lord Jagannath's Rathyatra begins from the 400 year old Jagannath temple on Sunday at 7.00 am.

The annual Rathyatra or chariot festival occurs every year on the second day of Sukla Paksha (waxing cycle of moon) in the month of Ashadh.

This Rath Yatra takes place in Puri, Orissa and Gujarat.

In Puri,  three chariots of Lord Jagananth, Lord Balbhadra and Goddess Subhadra from Jagannath to Gundicha temple.

In Gujarat, idols of Lord Krishna, Lord Balaram and Goddess Subhadra are placed on chariots in the entire Ahmedabad city.


This day is know as Ashadh Beej in Gujarat, and the day is celebrated as Kutchi New Year.

People from outside the world also visit India to see this rath yatra.

The history of Lord Jagannath Rath yatra in Puri is more than thousand years old. And all these years what has not changed much is its religious fervor, tradition, rituals and grandeur. Perhaps that is the reason why this festival is still very popular among its devotees which attracts more than a million of them every year to Puri on this occasion.

Decorated elephants, gymnasts and acrobats performing astonishing acts are a feast for the eyes. They are accompanied by numerous Vaishnavite sages, headed by the Mahant of Jagannath Temple.

Kutchi New Year 2011 - Ashadi Beej : 3rd July 2011

Kutchi people around the world celebrate their New Year on Ashadi Beej, the second day of the shukla paksha or waxing phase of moon in month of Ashad.

Ashad month generally falls in June - July of English Calendar.

As for people of Kutch, this day is associated with beginning of rains in Kutch, which is largely a desert area.

 In 2011, Kutchi New Year is on July 3. Vikram Samvant 2068 begins from from July 3, 2011.

Note – In other parts of Gujarat, Hindu New Year is on the day after Diwali – Kartik Shukla Paksha 1.

To avail this service, members just need to furnish their respective PF account numbers on the link given on EPFO Website.

Qingdao Haiwan Bridge - World's Longest Bridge Opened to Public in China

Yesterday, July 30, China opened the world's longest bridge over sea water to general traffic. The Qingdao Haiwan Bridge, located in China's eastern coastal city of Qingdao, with a total length of 42.4 kilometres (26.4 miles) is almost three miles longer than the previous record-holder, the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway in the American state of Louisiana.

The Qingdao Haiwan Bridge has been built in just four years at a cost of 55.5 billion pounds. This six-lane road bridge is supported by more than 5,200 columns.

The 42.5-km span stretches across the wide blue waters of Jiaozhou Bay and connects the booming northern port city of Qingdao with an airport built on a nearby island and the industrial suburb of Huangdao.

The bridge is expected to carry more than 30 thousand cars a day and will cut the commute between Qingdao and Huangdao by between 20 and 30 minutes.

Ram Gopal Varma wants to Sign Maria Susairaj for a Film


Today after the verdict of Neeraj Grover murder case was out, film maker Ram Gopal Varma came out saying that he wanted to Sign Kannada actress Maria Susairaj for a Film.

Today a Mumbai court announced the verdict of Neeraj Grover murder case and sentenced Maria Monica Susairaj for three years and ex-naval officer Emile Jerome Mathew to 10 years in jail for destroying evidence.

Since Maria Susairaj has already served more than three years in prison, she can now walk free.

Ram Gopal Varman tweeted “Maria susairaj wanted to become famous as an actress and she became famous as a murdress..if things went well it could have been a ‘Rangeela’ for her. Since things went wrong, her dreams of becoming an actress went for a toss.”

“Now that she has been released I want to sign Maria susairaj for a film,” he further posted.

In a gruesome crime of passion, Neeraj Grover, a producer working with a private television company, was killed by Mathew early morning of May 7, 2008, after he found him naked in Susairaj's apartment in Dheeraj Solitaire building in the northwest suburb of Malad.
