J Dey Murder Case Cracked, 7 Police Detained

Breaking News of the moment comes from Mumbai, where Mumbai Police have claimed that they have cracked the Jyotirmoy Dey (J Dey) murder case and have arrested seven people in connection with the case.

Mumbai crime branch sources said that seven suspects, who have been arrested from various parts of Karnataka and Maharashtra, will be produced in court.

These men were arrested after several rounds of questioning; more than 70 suspects have been questioned by the police so far.

Earlier on June 11, veteral crime journalist who worked for Mid Day was shot dead by four assailants in suburban Powai.

J Dey's postmortem report had revealed that he was shot at from a close range. Five bullets were pumped into his chest, while four of them pierced his body, the fifth one ended up just under his right shoulder.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan had earlier ruled out handing over the investigations into Dey's murder saying that the Mumbai police would crack the case soon.

"If the High Court orders the government to do it, the case would be given to the CBI to honour the court verdict. But, Mumbai police would put forth its case before the court properly," Chavan had said.
