Kvitova Wins Women's Singles Title; Beats Maria Sharapova 6-3,6-4 in Wimbledon Finals
Yesterday, July 2, Petra Kvitova became the third Czech ever to lift te Wimbledon Women's Singles crown. In finals of Women's Singles, Kvitova defeated Maria Sharapova 6-3,6-4 to win her title easily.
Earlier Martina Navratilova and Jana Novotna from Czech Republic have won the same title.
Both of them were present in the royal box and were cheering and supporting Petra Kvitova during the match.
After the match, Kvitova hugged both of them and thanked them for all their support.
After winning the title, world number eight Kvitova said, “They were so happy, I cried after I met them.”
“It’s hard to find some words, to see the great players in the royal box. It’s very nice when they’re watching me all the time and supporting me. We gave each other a hug.”
Today now the Mens Singles Finals of Wimbledon 2011 will be played between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.
